Whether you’re looking to explore the wonders of the Incas, or
to trek in the remote northern Andean mountains, Himalayan
Kingdoms has
Peru trekking holidays to suit everyone.
Himalayan Kingdoms currently have eight fantastic treks in Peru to choose
from ranging from moderate to vigorous
grades. This wide range of choice of Peru trekking reflects the
diversity and beauty of this country and highlights the best of
the landscape, history and culture of this remarkable country.
Our latest addition to our trek Peru options is the Festival of
the Snows trek where you can watch this unique annual event
celebrating all that is important in the Andean world in a
remote mountain bowl of the Andes. As with all our Inca trail
treks, this trip has been researched by Hugh Thomson, Britain’s
foremost explorer of lost inca settlements and author of two
renowned books on the subject including his latest work -
Cochineal Red: Travels through Ancient Peru?
Along with the Peru treks we offer that travel the Inca Trail,
and other related Inca sites, we offer two treks in the
lesser-visited mountain ranges of northern Peru. Here the
scenery is wild and spectacular, replete with deep glacial
valleys, sparkling turquoise lakes, and high snow-covered peaks.
You are more likely to see llamas, vicunas and condors then you
are to see people; these treks are ideal for those who like
to get off the beaten track.
For all of our Peru trekking experiences we include ample time
for acclimatization, and we provide knowledgeable English-speaking guides
who will help you get the most out of your trekking holiday in
Peru.
The Cordillera Huayhuash Circuit
This stunning circuit of the remote Huayhuash mountains is
comparable to the best that the Himalaya has to offer. The
Huayhuash is a collection of huge, dramatic peaks yet only 30km
from north to south. This is a demanding high altitude trek but
every day you will have spectacular vistas of mountains towering
over deep glacial valleys, sparkling blue trout-filled lakes and
tiny mountain villages.
Around Nevado Alpamayo
Starting at the fabulous blue lakes north of Huaraz, this
challenging high altitude trek is a visual feast. From day one
you are close in to the high mountains and there are stupendous
views of fluted snow peaks and dramatic glaciers. As you climb
high passes you will look down on deep glacial valleys and
turquoise lakes and walk through picturesque villages surrounded
by cultivated fields. There is plenty of time for
acclimatisation before the trek and you will also visit the town
of Huaraz.
Classic Inca Trail
The Inca Trail in style giving the best possible acclimatization
and an extra day at Machu Picchu.
The Hiram Bingham Trail
Trek alongside the roaring Urumbamba river, through pristine
cloud forest visiting seldom seen Inca ruins along the way
before reaching Machu Picchu.
The Royal Inca Trail
A spectacular trek along little-traveled Inca trails, across
high mountain passes and past remote Inca ruins before finally
meeting up with the classic
Inca Trail.
The White Rock Trek
A magnificent trek between the great Inca ruins of Machu Pichhu
and Choquequirao in the remote Vilcabamba cloud forest of the
Peruvian Andes.
Festival of the Snows A spectacular torch-lit procession
over several high passes is the culmination of this unique
holiday into the Andean heartlands. The mountain festival
follows a two week tour of the sacred landscape of the Incas
including a day spent at Machu Pacchu
