Take one of our
China tours or treks and get to grips with this amazing
country at your own pace.
Himalayan Kingdoms have been pioneering tours and treks in the
Himalayan region since our inception 20 years ago and we are as
proud of our policy for responsible tourism as we are of our
groundbreaking tours. We are committed to low impact trekking
and have been awarded a 3 star rating for Responsible Tourism by
AITO (Association of Independent Tour Operators).
This means that whether your China tour involves a visit to the
Great Wall, a trek in old Eastern Tibet, a pilgrimage to the
sacred mountain of Kawa Karpo, plant hunting in Yunnan or
visiting remote hill tribes you will be contributing to local
communities and helping to sustain the environment so that
others can enjoy its natural splendor.
Minya Konka, Old Eastern Tibet
Trek through rolling green valleys carpeted with wild flowers
and across high passes with dramatic views of snow-caped peaks,
glaciers and lakes, to the foot of Minya Konka; sacred mountain
to the local Tibetan people. Himalayan Kingdoms is the only UK
operator to offer this spectacular trek
Guilin & the Tribes of SW China
Begin this gentle trek with a visit to the Great Wall before
flying to Guilin province; a land of jagged mountain peaks and
terraced emerald rice-fields, home to many colourful ethnic
minority cultures. Drive and trek between remote villages
through dramatic Karst hills staying in a homestay and local
guesthouses. For those travelling in October the trip will also
include a visit to the colourful Lusheng Festival.
The Kawa Karpo Pilgrimage
Kawa Karpo (6,740m/22,113ft) lies in an all but forgotten part
of the Eastern Himalaya renowned for its beauty and stunning
biodiversity. It is one of the most sacred mountains in the
Tibetan Buddhist world and you would be trekking in the company
of many devout and cheerful Tibetan pilgrims.
The Plant Hunters, Yunnan
Yunnan is world-famous for its huge diversity of plants and
flowers and this China Tour has a strong botanical focus. Led by
a professional botanist you will travel to an almost unvisited
area of the eastern Himalaya via Kunming, Lijiang, and the
Tibetan tablelands of southern Kham. Our plant hunting
expeditions take the form of gentle walks to delightful lakes,
the Yangtse river gorge and the Baima mountain reserve.
